Rider Info for 2018 RideStaffs Spring Forward Sportive – 8th April: Uttoxeter.
We’re looking forward to seeing you on Sunday for our second RideStaffs sportive of 2018. The weather forecast is good with dry but cool conditions expected and light easterly winds to blow you back to Uttoxeter on the final phase of your ride. Great conditions for a sportive!
To get you ready for the ride, we’ve compiled the following information; everything you need to know to get you to the start on Sunday as well as a massive push for sales/orders on our caps and jerseys
If you have any questions in the meantime, please get in touch by email to firstname.lastname@example.org,
1 – Caps For Sale!
Normally £7.99 if you buy through the website. Our RideStaffs caps are going to be jut £5 each if you buy at registration on Sunday.
Apart from making you look effortlessly cool, caps are great for keeping the chill off your head for early starts on spring mornings, just like this Sunday!
2 – Jerseys For Sale!
We’ve started selling our own jerseys this year and we’re on to our second batch of orders now. We’ll have a jersey on display at registration on Sunday and you’ll have until Monday at 4pm to get an order in if you want one of the next batch that are due in time for our May Bank Holiday Mammoth Monday sportive. Available in men’s and women’s sizes and cuts, they’re made by Staffordshire based clothing experts Pro-vision.
Head to the Shop now to get an order in.
3 – Routes for Sunday
Whether you’re doing the short one or the long one, the route for Sunday remains largely the same as advertised with a couple of amends to avoid bits that we didn’t like the look of when we did a final route drive this week.
We’ve made two main changes to the long sportive route. The first of these is to take the route into Abbots Bromley to avoid poor lanes on the cut through from the B5014 to Blunts Hollow that we’d intended to use. The second is at the end of your ride where we’ll use the B5017 to get back from Draycott in the Clay to Uttoxeter instead of the lane through Marchington, again, this is because of the condition of the roads and the fact that we don’t want to get you all mucky again just before you finish your ride.
The route for the shorter ride remains unchanged from previous except that we’ll use the B5017 to get back from Draycott in the Clay to Uttoxeter instead of the lane through Marchington. At the point where the short route deviates from the long one, signs saying “Short Route” will accompany the normal route arrows to tell you where to go.
Looking to download the routes?
We use Strava to share routes for our events. It’s free to have an account and there’s a RideStaffs Club that you can join to stay up to speed with what we’re up to. Both of Sunday’s routes are up on the Strava Club as events you can sign up to and GPX files can be downloaded from there too.
4 – Registration
Registration for Sunday is at Bear Coffee on Uttoxeter High Street. We’ll be open from 7.30 for registration and the coffee shop will be open too at that time.
When you come to register, we’ll be able to process you most quickly if you bring your eventbrite ticket that we’ve emailed to you. You can bring this on your phone or on paper, either is good. If you forget to bring this we’ll need to take you into a separate room and interrogate you about things like your date of birth, home address and favourite colour before we can let you ride.
Once you’ve got your number you can go and wave it at the lovely folk at the coffee shop counter for a free power bite type museli bar thing. Coffee is on sale at the normal prices.
5 – Parking
There’s free parking in Uttoxeter on a Sunday, it’s just off Silver street and from there you can just roll through the shopping precinct to the high street where you’ll find us and Bear Coffee. Need a map for that? See below…
6 – Feed Station:
There’s 1 feed on the route on Sunday. It’s at Hixon Village Hall and there will be tea, coffee, sweet sugary stuff, toilets and the chance to refill your bottle. For the Short route riders it comes after 13.5miles, for the long route it’s 22 miles into the route.

We will also have two trained first aiders as part of our registration and stewarding team on site at Uttoxeter throughout the day.
