Project Description

Stafford Grand Prix Races – 22nd July: Stafford Town Centre

For the first time since 2015, we’ll be hosting 2 races in Stafford town centre as the climax of the Staffordshire Cycling Festival. The races will take place on a short course around the town centre incorporating Market Square, Eastgate Street, Tipping Street and Greengate Street.

The short course will take around a minute for the riders to complete each lap making an exciting spectator spectacle for families of all ages on a July summers evening.

Our Tour de France big screen coverage will wind down over the course of the afternoon, giving way to  the return of balance bike racing with Strider bikes before the professionals take to the streets as the festival reaches its climax.

Pro Race Circuit

Our race circuit for 2018 starts and finishes in the Market Square where our sportive riders will have begun and ended their adventure earlier the same day.

From the start line, the riders will head off Market Square and via Martin Street into Eastgate Street and down to the junction with Tipping Street before taking a right turn into Greengate street and up the finish straight back to the Market Square.

Each lap will take the riders in the region of 1 minute, making this a great circuit for experiencing professional cycling close up.

After our Strider Bike racing concludes, the women’s race will take to the grid first at 6pm before the Men’s race gets underway at 7pm.
